The Opportunity

This is an exciting role as a key developer solving problems facing our finance, middle office and trading desks to ensure smooth operation of our trading strategies and financial reporting.

These systems have to process millions of transactions from dozens of different exchange and banking platforms around the world in dozens of currencies (fiat and crypto).

Job Responsibilities

• Work with the finance and middle office teams and traders to understand the core problems facing the team and firm’s cryptocurrency trading.

• Keep up to date on latest developments in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and cryptocurrency space.

• Design and build systems to facilitate trading activities, focused on middle office and finance functions accounting for trading on centralized and decentralized crypto exchanges.

• Develop full stack solutions using databases, message queues, websockets, HTTP and UI's to solve the complex problems involved in cryptocurrency trading

• Develop reports, monitoring tools, deployment tools and troubleshooting tools for our trading and accounting systems.

• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues as and when they occur  

• Engage with the wider team in system design discussions, code reviews, problem solving, brain-storms and daily office banter

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, or other related discipline (although strong software development experience with a less directly related degree will be considered)

• 2-5 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in financial service industry such as a hedge fund, securities firm, bank, fund administrator or cryptocurrency firm

• A strong interest in decentralized finance and cryptocurrencies, and solving complicated puzzles that arise in this line of business.

• Can demonstrate good programming skills in Python, with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.

• Strong skills in data design.

• Able to articulate ideas and concepts clearly.

• Reliable, take pride in delivering robust software and are willing to be on call to support the systems you develop.

• Must be highly organized, have strong attention to detail and the ability to meet established deadlines

Content Editor, Internal Knowledge Base will Maintain and improve our internal Support knowledge base. This role ensures that existing documentation remains accurate, relevant, and easy to use. By keeping content up to date, you'll directly contribute to the efficiency of our customer support team and enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Regularly audit and update existing knowledge base articles, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides to ensure accuracy and clarity.

• Ensure all content reflects the latest product or process updates within 48 hours of release or escalation.

Your day-to-day activities

The Cloud and Data Platform team has two main goals: ensuring that our platform foundations enable everyone at eyeo to be as effective as possible, and rethinking our data processing platform to be scalable and ready for the future where we handle data from hundreds of millions of users. We are looking for a Cloud and Data Platform Engineering Lead to drive this evolution, contributing with leadership skills and strong technical knowledge.

You will provide technical leadership, as well as make direct contributions, to increase our platforms' performance and streamline processes. You will also ensure that the team members have what they need to be successful at eyeo and grow professionally.

From an engineering perspective:

• Design and build cloud and data platforms, endpoints and pipelines that meet business requirements and enable stakeholders to make more data-driven decisions, without losing track of technical quality and maintainability

• Actively collaborate with teams across all of eyeo (like browser extension developers, data analysts and legal counsels) to design data collection systems that are compliant with regulations and respect user privacy

• Actively collaborate with teams across all of eyeo (like browser extension and mobile application developers) to design platforms that enable them to be as effective as possible, like our own GitLab runners

• Manage platforms and software from proof-of-concept to deployment, operation, and finally deprecation; and manage data through ingestion, access, schema changes and deletion

• Implement strategies to ensure that data is accurate, complete, timely and consistent

• Contribute to ongoing management of our platforms, including performance monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues

• Managing contracts with service providers such as Google, GitLab and CloudFlare

From a leadership perspective:

What you bring to the table

From an engineering perspective:

• Experience translating (data) strategy into scalable, fault-tolerant architectures

• Experience with cloud services (ideally Google Cloud), including managing infrastructure with Terraform

• Familiarity with different approaches to data architecture (warehouse, lake, mesh, batch vs streaming, ETL vs ELT, etc.) and how they can be leveraged in different use cases

• Experience with Python and Bash for scripting and automation

• Experience with common data libraries and platforms such as Airflow, PySpark, Pandas, etc.

• Expertise with SQL queries and query optimization, ideally in BigQuery

• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (ideally in GitLab)

From a leadership perspective:

• Passion about introducing engineering best practices, for instance to ensure testability, data quality and completeness, etc

• Some leadership experience, for example mentoring other team members as a senior engineer, or having led a team before

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both with engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Your Mission

• Perform GL accounting across current and future Hostaway group entities, including e.g. Finland, UK, US, Spain, and Canada.

• Execute monthly closing tasks, including payroll journal entries, reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and accruals.

• Manage statutory and monthly tax reporting in Finland, covering indirect tax and payroll tax.

• Support in the preparation of statutory and consolidated financial statements.

How your work with us will look like?

You will be developing new features, supporting more exchanges, more blockchains, and more DeFi protocols. There is also always a lot of troubleshooting of user reported issues, bugs, and feature requests that are coming our way. You can improve our current Python backend implementation and help us get Rotki to the next level!

As an open source project, we work collaboratively on our codebase on GitHub in a style that should be familiar to anyone who has participated in an OSS community before. If you haven’t — we’re happy to support you in defining and writing great feature descriptions, and breaking them down into dev tasks, and shipping them to customers around the world.

This is an early stage open source company, so there is an opportunity to take on a variety of tasks beyond the app, such as the backend of the website, and our API.

Requirements:

• Excellent command of python.

Bonus points:

• Write tests for features you code and bugs you fix. Not strict TDD, but we’re always looking to increase test coverage

• Understanding of the frontend tech used in Rotki: Typescript + vue.js + electron. This role doesn't require you to be a front end expert, but understanding of these technologies will help you.

• Experience with distributed systems: we connect to API endpoints and nodes for various blockchains.

• Understanding of Ethereum blockchain structures, nodes, and API endpoints

• Experience with any other blockchain stack — e.g. Cosmos, Substrate, etc.

What you'll do

You will:

• Be the first point of contact for our customers and ensure excellent customer experience during our rapid growth. This will take place via email, chat, calls, and on our forum.

• Enhance our help center and our internal knowledge base.

• Work with Product on an ongoing basis to improve Finary.

• Improve processes to support our growth while keeping a high-quality service.

You’d be a great fit if you

• are native in French with impeccable grammar & fluent in English.

• have 3+ years in a customer support or customer care role in a fast-paced environment.

• are a team player, are humble, open to challenges, and like to help others grow.

• like to take initiative and find creative solutions to challenges.

• have an empathetic and serene state of mind. You are attentive to understanding our customer's issues or concerns.

• have good financial knowledge and are an investor yourself.

• are based in Paris or elsewhere in France (remote).

Bonus points if you

• are comfortable with Intercom and Linear

• have experience in Fintech/SaaS companies

• have a basic understanding of API integrations

• are fluent in additional languages, which may help as we expand in new countries
